Tennis Industry Magazine Names 2014 'Champions of Tennis'

Bahram Akradi, the founder, president and CEO of the Life Time Fitness chain of clubs, has been named “Person of the Year” for 2014 by Tennis Industry magazine in the publication’s January 2015 issue. Akradi led off the magazine’s 14th annual “Champions of Tennis Awards,” which honors people, businesses and organizations dedicated to improving the sport and business of tennis.

Adams to Serve as Next USTA President

The USTA will have new leadership in 2015, with former pro and longtime tennis advocate Katrina Adams nominated to assume the post of chairman, CEO and president on Jan. 1, 2015. She is slated to serve a two-year term, succeeding outgoing president Dave Haggerty.

ESPN Executive Jason Bernstein Joins TIA Board of Directors

Jason Bernstein, senior director of programming and acquisitions at ESPN, is the newest member of the Tennis Industry Association’s Board of Directors. Bernstein oversees digital media programming content acquisitions and scheduling for ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network, ESPN3, and its authenticated networks service, WatchESPN. He is also responsible for the content acquisition and scheduling strategy for ESPN’s tennis business.
