TIA & NSSA Offer Second Annual ‘Tennis Media Award’

The TIA and the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA) are again working together to help bring to light the many great stories about tennis—those who play, teach, organize, sponsor and promote the game. The TIA will present the Second Annual “Tennis Media Award” to an NSSA member (either a sportswriter or sportscaster) who produces a story  judged to be the most informative, interesting, and compelling about the sport of tennis or those involved in the sport.

The Tennis Show 2014 Celebrates the Business of Tennis

More than 1,000 tennis industry leaders, executives and professionals gathered at The Tennis Show 2014 recently in New York City to celebrate the business of tennis. Held on the eve of the US Open, The Tennis Show was produced by the Tennis Industry Association (TIA) and included the TIA Tennis Forum, the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame Induction, and 54 companies displaying their latest products and services.

Tennis a Top 10 Growth Sport in 2013

Tennis is the only traditional participation sport to be ranked in the Top 10 in terms of participation growth, out of nearly 120 sports and activities surveyed in the recently released Physical Activity Council (PAC) 2014 Participation Report. In the U.S., tennis grew by 658,000 players, or 4%, in the last year, to bring total tennis participation to 17.68 million players, according to PAC data.

‘Cardio Tennis’ Plays Well In Fight Against Obesity and Inactivity

W.Va. Sports Editor Wins Inaugural TIA ‘Tennis Media Award’

Chuck McGill, the sports editor for the Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail, is the winner of the inaugural Tennis Media Award, presented by the Tennis Industry Association (TIA) in conjunction with the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). McGill will be recognized at the NSSA’s 55th annual NSSA Awards Weekend in Salisbury, N.C., June 7-9.
