In a study of TV viewership of sports in 10 countries by Ampere Analysis, there is a troublesome trend: 18-24 year olds around the world, especially in the U.S., are not watching sports on TV. In the U.S., the drop is 45% versus the national average. Globally, eight of 10 countries have seen drops. The UK was the closest to the U.S. in the fallout, with a 34% drop. Tennis players dominated the top 10 in Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s highest paid female athletes for 2017, taking eight of the spots in total earnings between June 2016 and June 2017. Serena Williams topped the list, earning a total of $27 million ($8 million of that in prize money).
