New research by the Physical Activity Council of 40,000 Americans shows children who do not have physical education (P.E.) are more than twice as likely to be totally sedentary outside of school. And, children who have physical education are two to three times more likely to be play sports and be active outside of school than children without physical education.
Physical activity is the best route to academic success! The results of four separate recent studies uncovered by PHIT America confirm the positive correlation between exercise and good grades. Cardio Tennis participation grew to over 1.4 million participants in 2012, according to the latest U.S. Sports, Fitness & Recreation Participation Report published by the Physical Activity Council (PAC), a consortium of 6 sports and outdoor trade associations. The study, which surveys participation across 125 different sports, fitness and recreation activities, is the nation’s largest report on physical activity with a sample size of more than 40,000.
The PHIT America Alliance has created a new category to help support the health and fitness campaign. “Ambassadors” include grassroots influencers such as tennis teaching pros, fitness professionals, retailers, park & rec administrators, P.E. and school teachers or any individual who wants to help spread the word about PHIT America and healthy living.

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) announced the return of its SmashZone Mobile Tour, which will hit the road for a 22-city tour to introduce youth tennis to kids and parents across the country. SmashZone began as the premier fan interactive attraction at the US Open before being showcased across the country. Since its inception in 2011, SmashZone has attracted more than 2 million people to its tennis courts.
