March 4, 2013, will be an important day for tennis and the tennis industry across the globe. Some of the greatest champions in the game will take to the court during the BNP Paribas Showdowns in New York City and Hong Kong for a night of exciting tennis. The Showdown in NY will kick off the USTA's "Tennis Night in America," and StarGames Inc, the producers of the BNP Paribas Showdowns, has partnered with the International Tennis Federation to designate March 4 as "World Tennis Day" across the globe.
The Upper St. Claire (Pa.) Tennis Development Program, Inc. won the inaugural Cardio Tennis Get Fit Challenge, in which tennis facilities from across country competed in a five-week challenge designed to help participants reach their health and fitness goals.
This past year was very successful year in terms of training new coaches to deliver the Cardio Tennis program. Hundreds of tennis coaches, both in the US and abroad, attended Cardio Tennis training courses in 2012. To keep the momentum going, ensure quality control and safety, and to continue growth of the program throughout the various regions of the US and the world, a robust schedule of training courses is being developed for 2013. Certified teaching professionals who attended a Cardio Tennis Training workshop also receive CEU's from the PTR and MAP Points from the USPTA. Upon completion of the course will be a licensed cardio tennis professional.
TennisIndustry.org, the central information source for the tennis trade, has recently been redeveloped and relaunched by the Tennis Industry Association. The new website not only focuses on providing specified content for the various segments of the industry, but it also consolidates much of the information that previously resided on ancillary sites hosted by the TIA—making TennisIndustry.org a true "one-stop shop" for industry information.
