Separate HHI Events Offer Key Education for Industry

In October, Hilton Head Island, SC, will host two separate tennis industry events designed to provide educational opportunities to two different industry audiences to help grow the sport.

From Oct. 13 -14, the Tennis Industry Association (TIA) will hold its inaugural "Tennis Facility Owners & Managers Workshop.” Then, from Oct. 16 - 18, the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) will host its "Directors of Tennis Conference." Both events will be held at the Sonesta Resort.

USPTA names John Embree as new CEO/Executive Director

HOUSTON, TX (Sept. 13, 2012) – The United States Professional Tennis Association Board of Directors and Search Committee has hired industry veteran John Embree as the new CEO/Executive Director. Embree will take the administrative reigns from Tim Heckler, who will retire at the end of the year, after 30 years in the position. Embree will begin transitioning into his role as of Oct. 1and will be relocating to the national office in Houston on Nov. 1.

TIA Seeks Task Force to Discuss Unified Teaching Pro Group

Tennis Industry Association President Jon Muir said the TIA will work with the U.S Professional Tennis Association and the Professional Tennis Registry to form a task force that will look into the possibility of creating a single, unified tennis teaching professional organization. Muir made the announcement to more than 300 tennis providers, teaching pros, coaches, facility managers, retailers, media and industry supporters at the TIA Tennis Forum in New York just before the US Open.

TRX Cardio Tennis Session in Florida Features Bollettieri

Tennis coach Nick Bollettieri spoke to participants at the TRX Cardio Tennis Pilot Training Course held at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., July 21-22. The legendary coach, who will be inducted into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame on Aug. 24 in New York, talked to attendees about how a healthy lifestyle and exercise promotes longevity and slows down the aging process.
