Orlando Racquet & Paddle Sports, Facility Conference to be Jan. 23-25

Get ready for the inaugural Racquet & Paddle Sports Conference, to be held Jan. 23-25 in Orlando, Fla., incorporating an expanded Tennis Owners & Managers Conference. The new racquet sports event will be co-located with the PGA Merchandise Show at the Orange County Convention Center and will include an Innovation & Tech Demo Event at the USTA National Campus in Lake Nona.

Total Tennis Economy Grows 1.1% in 2017 to $6.06 Billion

The total value of the U.S. tennis economy grew by just over 1% last year, crossing the $6 billion threshold for the first time. The data is from the Tennis Industry Association’s annual “Economic Index,” created to evaluate the total worth of the U.S. tennis industry to the overall economy. The 2017 index value measured 110, the highest since the Tennis Economic Index value was first released in 2008.

13 Young Singers to Perform at 2018 US Open

The USTA announced the names of 13 vocalists, ages 14 and under, who will perform patriotic-themed songs during the night sessions of the 2018 US Open and at Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day. The lineup for this year’s US Open will feature a new slate of talent from throughout the New York tristate area, as well as from Florida, Illinois and Michigan to name a few.

Tennis Industry Forum Aug. 27 in New York City

The tennis industry will come together on Monday, Aug. 27, at the 11th annual Tennis Industry Association (TIA) Tennis Forum, which will be at the Grand Hyatt New York from 8 to 9:30 a.m. The Tennis Forum will include the latest news and research about the state of the tennis industry, business insights, updates on grow-the-game initiatives including the U.S. Tennis Association’s Net Generation, and recognition of the 2018 Tennis Industry Hall of Fame inductees.

Tennis Industry to Come Together For Meetings in NYC Aug. 27-28

 In conjunction with the 11th annual Tennis Forum in New York, the Tennis Industry Association will present a special session on “The Future Commerce Initiative” by renowned industry expert and thought leader Dan O’Connor. The session, which will deal with how tennis businesses can navigate the complexity of retail in today’s world, will be at the Grand Hyatt New York on Tuesday, Aug. 28, from 9 to 11 a.m.

Vic Braden, Jim Fromuth to Join TI Hall of Fame Aug. 27

Tennis players, and the tennis industry, can thank both the late Vic Braden and Jim Fromuth for helping to improve their games and grow this sport. Braden, whose tennis academies, books and videos brought tennis to the masses, and Fromuth, the founder of a tennis equipment distribution company, both have had a hand in millions of players enjoying the game over the last four decades. Both men will be inducted into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame on Aug. 27.
