Tennis is First Sports Industry To Endorse NPAP, Sign CEO Pledge

The tennis industry became the first sports industry to endorse the new National Physical Activity Plan (NPAP) and the CEO Pledge for Physical Activity when the plan was unveiled on April 20 in Washington, D.C. The NPAP was announced in a press conference at the National Press Club, followed by a Congressional briefing at the U.S. Capitol. During the announcement, the sport of tennis was cited by Dr. Jack Groppel as “the first of hopefully many entire sports to endorse this pledge and this plan.”

More than 300 tennis industry leaders, who gathered recently at the 2016 State of the Tennis Industry Forum held in Miami, heard about the future of the sport, including key information and statistics that pointed out the challenges and opportunities tennis faces today.

POP Tennis Demos Continue to Drive Interest

POP Tennis, which recently adopted play on 36-foot and 60-foot courts using Red, Orange, and Green tennis balls, was demonstrated on-court at the PTR Symposium in February in Hilton Head. The sport will be demonstrated during the Tennis Owners & Managers Conference in Miami March 23-25, and in April, four Chicago-area Midtown clubs will hold POP Tennis pilot programs.

Make plans now to attend the 2016 TIA State of the Industry Forum, which will be March 23 in Miami, in conjunction with the Tennis Owners & Managers (T.O.M.) Conference. The Forum will run from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Hilton Miami Downtown and is free to the industry to attend. The event is being held during the Miami Open professional tennis tournament.

Human Performance Expert Dr. Jack Groppel A Highlight at Tennis Owners & Managers Conference

The 2016 Tennis Owners & Managers Conference in Miami March 23-25 will feature Dr. Jack Groppel, an internationally recognized authority and pioneer in the science of human performance. Dr. Groppel, who is the co-founder of the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, has a long history in tennis. He will address tennis facility owners/managers on topics that include the importance of health and fitness in helping to grow tennis and the industry.

The 2016 TIA State of the Industry Forum will be March 23 in Miami, in conjunction with the Tennis Owners & Managers (T.O.M.) Conference. The Forum will run from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Downtown Miami Hilton on Biscayne Blvd. and is free to the industry to attend, however, space is limited, so registration is required (visit TheTOMConference.com).
