Federer’s “current brand value,” according to Forbes, is $36 million. The Swiss champ earns $60 million in endorsements.
WTA CEO Steve Simon announced the launch of WTA Networks, a new digital media and marketing division that will deliver tennis fans with the highest-quality, on and off-the-court content available anywhere. WTA Networks will completely revamp the WTA’s owned and controlled channels, wtatennis.com and branded social channels. The new digital and social content platform, creative look and feel and enhanced user experience will launch on Jan. 1 at www.wtatennis.com and via a mobile app for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.
Top retail expert Dan O’Connor, the founder and CEO of RetailNet Group (RNG), spoke to tennis retailers, manufacturers and others in the industry at a roundtable sponsored by the TIA. Sinclair Broadcasting Corp., which owns Tennis Channel, anticipates increased distribution of the channel following its recently announced deal with Comcast. The multiyear deal saw Comcast agree to pay the broadcasting company a fee to carry its lineup among its offerings to subscribers.

The TIA, in partnership with the Physical Activity Council (PAC), has released the 2016 Tennis Industry Association Participation Report, which examines tennis participation trends, play frequency, participant profiles, venue information, tennis business spending, fitness & health, tennis fans, cross participation in other sports, and more. The tennis survey is part of an overall PAC online study of more than 100 different sports and activities during 2015.
