Federer Tops Forbes 'Fab 40' Sports Brand List

Roger Federer is No. 1 in the “athlete” category of the Forbes “Fab 40,” which picks the most valuable sports brands in four categories:  athletes, teams, businesses and sporting events. Federer’s “current brand value,” according to Forbes, is $36 million. The Swiss champ earns $60 million in endorsements.

WTA to Launch New Digital and Social Platform

WTA CEO Steve Simon announced the launch of WTA Networks, a new digital media and marketing division that will deliver tennis fans with the highest-quality, on and off-the-court content available anywhere. WTA Networks will completely revamp the WTA’s owned and controlled channels, wtatennis.com and branded social channels. The new digital and social content platform, creative look and feel and enhanced user experience will launch on Jan. 1 at www.wtatennis.com and via a mobile app for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.

Stars to Shine at 10th Anniversary Showdown in Madison Square Garden

The 10th anniversary of the BNP Paribas Showdown will bring past, current and future stars to the Madison Square Garden court for a night of tennis on Monday, March 6, The Madison Square Garden Company and GF Sports announced. Juan Martin del Potro, Kei Nishikori, Venus Williams, Garbiñe Muguruza, Nick Kyrgios, Jack Sock and a legends matchup to be named later will square off in the 2017 edition of the annual tennis showcase. 

 

Top Tennis Execs to Present Latest Plans, Research at TIA Tennis Forum, Aug. 29

Top tennis executives will present the latest research and share plans for growing this industry at the ninth annual TIA Tennis Forum, which will be Monday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Grand Hyatt New York City. The Tennis Forum is free to attend, but space is limited so attendees should register at TennisIndustry.org/forum.

Unveiling Spectacular: Arthur Ashe Stadium Roof Debuts

Redefining spectacular. That is how the USTA's vision and motivation was described almost three years ago when plans to build a retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium were first unveiled at a Manhattan hotel. Those ambitious and revolutionary plans came to fruition – witnessing spectacular – on Tuesday, Aug. 2, with the first public demonstration of the $150 million roof opening and closing over the US Open's primary show court. Read the USTA's account of the history-making moment here.

9th Annual TIA Tennis Forum Set for Aug. 29 in New York City

The ninth annual TIA Tennis Forum will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, at the Grand Hyatt New York City, right before play begins at the 2016 US Open. In addition to presenting the latest news and research about the tennis industry, the Forum will include a ceremony honoring the two 2016 inductees into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame: Eve Kraft and Eugene Scott. 2016 State of the Industry Analyzes Research on Participation, Equipment and More

The 2016 State of the Industry report is available from the TIA and outlines key research to help tennis industry businesses and organizations. The TIA produces more than 70 annual research reports, and the State of the Industry analyzes this data to determine where this industry has been, where it is now, and where it is going.
