Dr. Jack Groppel Named Health & Wellness Advisor for the Tennis Industry

Dr. Jack Groppel, an internationally recognized authority and pioneer in the science of human performance, will become the Health & Wellness Advisor for the Tennis Industry. As the representative and spokesperson on the Tennis Industry Association Board of Directors, Dr. Groppel will work with industry partners, including the USTA, SFIA, IHRSA and others, on strategies to best convey the health and fitness messaging of tennis.

Retail Expert Dan O’Connor Leads Industry Roundtable

Top retail expert Dan O’Connor, the founder and CEO of RetailNet Group (RNG), spoke to tennis retailers, manufacturers and others in the industry at a roundtable sponsored by the TIA. "The business question I get asked all the time is, ‘What’s next?’” O’Connor said. “The fundamentals of retail are shifting in a way that I’ve never experienced. It’s all about the merchandise and execution.”

More than 300 attendees heard top U.S. and international tennis executives present key industry research, initiatives, issues and challenges at the ninth annual TIA Tennis Forum, held on Aug. 29 in New York City, the first day of play at the 2016 US Open.

The top officials from the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) will speak to hundreds of industry executives at the ninth annual TIA Tennis Forum, which will be held Monday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Grand Hyatt New York City, right before play begins at the 2016 US Open.

Top Tennis Execs to Present Latest Plans, Research at TIA Tennis Forum, Aug. 29

Top tennis executives will present the latest research and share plans for growing this industry at the ninth annual TIA Tennis Forum, which will be Monday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Grand Hyatt New York City. The Tennis Forum is free to attend, but space is limited so attendees should register at TennisIndustry.org/forum.

2016 TIA/PAC Participation Report Available to Members

The TIA, in partnership with the Physical Activity Council (PAC), has released the 2016 Tennis Industry Association Participation Report, which examines tennis participation trends, play frequency, participant profiles, venue information, tennis business spending, fitness & health, tennis fans, cross participation in other sports, and more. The tennis survey is part of an overall PAC online study of more than 100 different sports and activities during 2015.

NYC Meetings to Highlight Issues in Tennis Marketplace

The ninth annual TIA Tennis Forum—with a focus on addressing the current marketplace, outlining industry efforts under way, and presenting the latest news and trends—will be held on Monday, Aug. 29, at the Grand Hyatt New York City, starting at 8:30 a.m. Please register for the Forum here. The Forum will be followed on Tuesday by a roundtable working session to examine ways to better engage consumers in an age of disruption that is impacting industry businesses, manufacturers and retailers.

The 2016 State of the Industry report is available from the TIA and outlines key research to help tennis industry businesses and organizations. The TIA produces more than 70 annual research reports, and the State of the Industry analyzes this data to determine where this industry has been, where it is now, and where it is going.

Register now for the ninth annual TIA Tennis Forum, which will be Monday, Aug. 29, on the Ballroom level of the Grand Hyatt New York City, right before play begins at the 2016 US Open. In addition to presenting the latest news about the tennis industry, the Forum will include a ceremony honoring the two inductees into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame: Eve Kraft and Eugene Scott.
