Nick Bollettieri Joins Tennis Channel

Tennis Channel has added Hall of Fame coach Nick Bollettieri to its deep roster of influential tennis professionals and visionaries. Bollettieri will provide motivational tips, answer viewer questions via “Ask Nick” videos, write weekly articles for TennisChannel.com and sister site Tennis.com, and will likely contribute on air and to Tennis magazine. His first material is set to appear digitally this week during the network’s weeklong coverage of the Shanghai Rolex Masters tournament in China.
 

Video Shows TI Hall-of-Famer Dave Haggerty's Tennis Career

When International Tennis Federation President David Haggerty was inducted into the Tennis Industry Hall of Fame on Aug. 28 in New York City, during the TIA’s annual Tennis Forum, the audience was treated to a short video showing some of the many tennis scene’s in Haggerty’s life and career. The video is available to view at TennisIndustry.org/HOF.

This marks the 17th year that Tennis Industry magazine has honored individuals and organizations that are making a difference in tennis, and in the business of tennis. The Champions of Tennis issue will be in the magazine’s January 2018 edition, which will be distributed in mid-December.

Innovation Challenge Winner In/Out Brings Order on the Court

Arguments over line calls are the bane of tennis players everywhere, and often a major cause of headaches for parents, tournament directors and tennis facility staff. But now, a new device by inventor Grégoire Gentil may help bring order to the court. Called “In/Out” (www.inout.tennis), this small, $199 unit attaches to any netpost, on any type of court, and detects whether balls are in or out.

New National Event in May to Get America Moving

To help get more Americans physically active, PHIT America is launching PHIT America Month. This national event will promote and encourage millions of Americans to Get Moving in May 2018, while growing sports and fitness participation. PHIT America and more than 100 corporate sponsors, sports celebrities, plus thousands of local supporters are expected to offer hundreds of ways for Americans to Get Moving, including participation in local events. PHIT America Month is open to all Americans and most of the programs offered will be free.

USTA, Discovery Education Host 'Careers Beyond the Court'

The USTA and Discovery Education, the leading provider of digital content and professional development for K-12 classrooms, have teamed up to host the first ever "Careers Beyond the Court" Virtual Field Trip to inspire students to explore exciting career paths in the tennis industry. The event will premiere on Thursday, September 14, at 1 p.m. ET. 

Tennis Forum Presents Insights, Challenges and Opportunities

The 10th Annual Tennis Industry Association (TIA) Tennis Forum was held in New York City on Aug. 28, the first day of play at the US Open, and the audience of nearly 300 tennis industry leaders heard the latest news about the state of the tennis industry, updates on grow-the-game initiatives, and business insights, along with a spotlight on tennis innovation.
