To help showcase this sport and all its great benefits, industry partners have come together to promote the month of May as “Play Tennis Month.” This national and local promotion will key on helping people to get moving and playing tennis. The goal for the month is for Americans to burn a combined 10 million calories on the tennis court in Play Tennis Month activities.

USTA Foundation Raises Record $9 Million in 2017

The USTA Foundation (USTAF), the national charitable arm of the USTA, announced it raised a record $9 million in 2017 through a variety of fundraising efforts. These funds will be used to support National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) programs nationwide through multiple initiatives and activities, including NJTL Excellence Teams, STEM and ACE curriculums, programming and capacity-building grants, and college scholarships.

Thousands of tennis programs and events will be held around the country, with a goal of helping to get people moving and playing tennis, the No. 1 sport for a long and healthy life.

USTA Mid-Atlantic Selects Prince William County for New Home of Tennis

The USTA Mid-Atlantic Section will move its headquarters to Prince William County, Va., and create a new home of Mid-Atlantic tennis in the community. USTA Mid-Atlantic is pursuing development of a tennis complex to help support local players, pave the way for growth of the game and introduce the sport to the next generation of tennis players in the region.

TI Publisher, TIA Prez Jeff Williams Named USTA Eastern Man of Year

Jeff Williams, president of the TIA and publisher of Tennis Industry magazine, was awarded the prestigious 2017 Leslie J. FitzGibbon Tennis Man of the Year Award by USTA Eastern at its Annual Awards Dinner on Jan. 28. Williams was recognized for his sustained involvement in growing the game through his pioneering, entrepreneurial pursuits and leadership over several decades that have made significant contributions to the sport locally, nationally and internationally.
