Showcase Your Programming at a USTA Tennis Play Event in March

In March, the USTA and the tennis industry will host USTA Tennis Play Events in celebration of World Tennis Day on March 3. Tennis Play Events are designed to introduce kids to tennis and provide a platform to register children for spring programs. Sports industry studies have shown that an early, positive experience in sports creates a lifelong commitment to an active lifestyle.

Second Annual World Tennis Day Set for March 3

The International Tennis Federation and StarGames announced today that the second annual World Tennis Day will take place on Monday, March 3. World Tennis Day will center around a series of high-profile special events, produced by StarGames, featuring current and former professional players. In 2014, the number of cities hosting the special events will include New York, London, Bangkok and Hong Kong.

USTA Announces Historic Transformation Of The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center

FLUSHING, N.Y., August 15, 2013 – The USTA today announced its plans for a sweeping transformation of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center that will include building a retractable roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium, and the construction of two new stadiums. The transformation will be implemented in three phases to begin at the conclusion of the 2013 US Open, with the goal of overall completion by the 2018 US Open.  The completion of the retractable roof for Arthur Ashe Stadium is scheduled for August 2017.

USPTA, PTR and USPTA to Collaborate on Developing a Coaching Education Curriculum to Develop Youth

The United States Tennis Association (USTA) today announced that it is developing an educational curriculum, consisting of a series of courses and workshops, that focuses on the development of young players. The USTA will work in collaboration with the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), in developing the curriculum, which will serve as part of the  pathway to PTR and USPTA certification.

Tennis Show, TIA Tennis Forum on Hiatus This Year; Will Return in 2014

The Tennis Show, which debuted in New York City last year just before the US Open, and tied into the 2012 USTA Tennis Teacher’s Conference, will not be held in 2013. However, the Tennis Show will return to New York in 2014.  The TTC, also on hiatus for 2013, will resume in 2014 with expanded plans to provide the best possible learning experience for tennis teachers and coaches.

Halfway Through 2013: A Snapshot of TIA Efforts

For the first half of 2013 the TIA has been focused on industry efforts to grow the game and the business of tennis. Under the direction of TIA President Greg Mason—whose two-year term commenced at the beginning of 2013—and our board of directors, we continue to focus our efforts on our key strategic platforms.
