President Trump signed the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill (MTB), which will lower existing tariffs on a wide variety of imported goods. The Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) led over 30 successful petitions on various industry products, which will now receive duty relief under the new, revised MTB.
The USTA Nominating Committee has put forth slate for the 2019-2020 term for the USTA Board of Directors. Patrick Galbraith of the USTA Pacific Northwest Section, the current USTA First Vice President, has been nominated to be the next USTA President. He would replace Katrina Adams, who becomes Immediate Past President.

The USTA has announced that 18-time Grand Slam singles champion Chris Evert and former USTA vice-president Don Tisdel have been honored with the United States Tennis Association’s President’s Award at the USTA Semi-Annual Meeting in New York. The President’s Award honors individuals who have given unusual and extraordinary service to the sport of tennis in the public’s interest.
The USTA Pacific Northwest (USTA PNW) opened the Galbraith Tennis Center in Tacoma, Wash., and reopened the Vancouver Tennis Center in Vancouver, Wash. Both facilities offer an experience and amenities that are considered industry best. Modern tenant improvements, court surfacing, and live stream court viewing are just a few of the attractions both facilities provide.
The USTA, the 17 USTA Sections and the USTA Foundation announced they have pledged to donate $350,000 to restore tennis facilities and restart tennis programming throughout Puerto Rico. It has been one year since the devastation across the island, and the goal of this effort would be to give the children and families in Puerto Rico the opportunity to enjoy all of the benefits that the game of tennis can provide.
