Tennis Channel to Ring in New Year with Inaugural ATP Cup Jan. 2-12

Tennis Channel and Tennis Channel Plus will welcome the 2020 season with complete live coverage of the new ATP Cup, a tournament-of-nations battle that features the United States and 23 other countries in Australia Jan. 2-12. Including all-time greats Rafael Nadal of Spain and Novak Djokovic of Serbia, 25 of the world's top 30 singles players will compete in an inaugural clash for worldwide recognition. The action gets underway Thursday, Jan. 2, at 5:30 p.m. ET with a 16-and-a-half-hour ATP Cup telecast on the network and streaming matches on Tennis Channel Plus. 

SFIA Elects New Chairman: Dan Arment of Riddell & BRG Sports

Dan Arment, President and CEO of Riddell & BRG Sports, has been elected as the new Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) Chairman of the Board for a one-year term. In addition, two new directors were elected, and five members were re-elected, to the SFIA Board of Directors for three-year terms. This announcement was made at the end of the SFIA’s Annual Meeting, which took place on Dec. 16, 2019.

FanHub, ATP Launch ATP Cup Bracket Challenge Game

FanHub, the largest provider of casual, free to play sports-focused digital gaming platforms in the world, today announced that they have expanded their relationship with the ATP, building and launching the first-ever bracket challenge game for the inaugural ATP Cup, which will be held in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney, Australia from January 3 through 12. The six winners of each group and the two best second-placed finishers will qualify for the quarterfinals.

Annual TOM Conference Set for January's Racquet & Paddle Sports Show

The Tennis Industry Association's annual Tennis Owners & Managers (TOM) Conference headlines a comprehensive program of educational opportunities at the 2nd Annual Racquet & Paddle Sports Show, Jan. 22-24, at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Fla. Well known for its expert presenters and popular "TOM Talk" format, the TOM Conference will be newly integrated with golf education sessions at the co-located PGA Merchandise Show and with complimentary racquet industry programming at the Racquet & Paddle Sports Show.

Racquet Sports Industry Magazine Names 2019 'Champions of Tennis'

Dan Faber, the executive director of the USTA Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the U.S. Tennis Association, has been named “Person of the Year” for 2019 by Racquet Sports Industry magazine (formerly Tennis Industry magazine) in the publication’s January 2020 issue. Faber led off the magazine’s 19th annual “Champions of Tennis Awards,” which honors people, businesses and organizations dedicated to improving the sport and business of tennis.

PTR Symposium Feb. 10-13; Tribute to Dennis Van der Meer Feb. 9

The Professional Tennis Registry will host its premier coaching event, the International Tennis Symposium, Feb. 10-13 at the Sonesta Resort on Hilton Head Island, S.C. A gathering and reception celebrating the life of PTR founder Dennis Van der Meer, who passed away July 27, will be on Sunday, Feb. 9, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Sonesta Resort.
