Bleachr’s TennisONE App Wins Fifth Tennis Industry Innovation Challenge

The winner of the 2020 Tennis Industry Innovation Challenge is Bleachr LLC’s TennisONE App, which is a mobile hub for all things tennis, providing live scoring, AI “ball tracer” technology, player stats, social games and other tennis content. The fifth edition of the Tennis Industry Innovation Challenge, sponsored by the Tennis Industry Association, was held on Jan. 23 at the Racquet & Paddle Sports Show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

USTA Awards $50,000+ in Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots Grants

The USTA announced that it is awarding more than $50,000 in USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots grants to 33 deserving wheelchair tennis programs nationwide. Grants were awarded to local organizations that promote and develop the growth of wheelchair tennis and use the sport to help build stronger, healthier communities. The first USTA Wheelchair Tennis Grassroots grants were awarded in 2008 and since then, the USTA has given more than $650,000 to wheelchair tennis programs across the country.

Ted Robinson Joins Tennis Channel's Australian Open Team

Tennis Channel will return to the Australian Open for its 13th consecutive year Jan. 19 to Feb. 2 and, for the first time, veteran sportscaster Ted Robinson (@tedjrobinson) will be part of the network's on-air team. The trip to Melbourne will complete the cycle for Robinson, who has announced matches at tennis' three other majors in his Emmy Award-winning career. Tennis Channel's two-week Australian Open telecast begins Sunday, Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. ET.

'Retail Studio' Presentation Schedule Set for Racquet & Paddle Sports Show

Racquet retail experts will present best practices and strategies in a series of complimentary Retail Studio Pop-Up Talks from the Show Floor of the 2020 Racquet & Paddle Sports Show, Jan. 22-24, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.  Additionally the Retail Studio will serve as a hub for peer-to-peer conversations, experiential activations and networking events for hundreds of attending racquet industry professionals.

Tennis & Racquet Demo Day Announced for USTA National Campus in Lake Nona, Jan. 21

Tennis & racquet equipment companies will showcase the latest equipment including racquets, paddles, ball machines and more at the Demo Day: Lake Nona Experience on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.  The event will be open to industry professionals and consumers from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

PTR Receives USTA Provisional Accreditation

Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) announced today that it has received provisional accreditation from the United States Tennis Association.  USTA’s accreditation program sets uniform standards for the development of those new to the profession and will include ongoing coaching education for all certified professionals who are members of accredited organizations.

Complimentary Regional Education Day Announced for Racquet & Paddle Sports Show

A Regional Education Day (RED), presented by USTA Florida, USPTA Florida and RacquetFit, will be offered at no charge on Jan. 22 to registered industry professionals of the Racquet & Paddle Sports Show, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.  The education event is part of the inaugural Racquet & Paddle Sports Show, Jan. 22-24.  Complimentary event and Regional Education Day registration is available at RacquetPaddleSportsShow.com.
