‘Million Calorie Burn’ to Push Fitness, Movement

On April 20, the sport of tennis will showcase the “Million Calorie Burn,” where the goal is for participants to burn a combined 1 million calories—with a focus on Cardio Tennis and including all the tennis programming on the 100-court USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

The Million Calorie Burn, which is presented by the USTA, USPTA and Tennis Industry Association, is a prelude to Play Tennis Month and PHIT America Month, helping to support PHIT America’s efforts to “Get America Moving.”

One way PHIT America is attacking the deadly “inactivity pandemic” that is pervasive in the U.S. is by promoting PHIT America GO! Grants, which are designed to jump-starts physical activity in children by rebuilding physical education programs in school. To date, 375 schools have received a GO! Grant, helping to introduce 200,000 children to a lifestyle of activity, fitness and better health.
