All of us at the Tennis Industry Association were saddened to hear of the passing of Tim Heckler on Monday.
As CEO of the USPTA for the past 30 years, up until his retirement this past December, Tim was a driving force in the tennis teaching profession and, by extension, to tens of millions of tennis players in the U.S. and around the world.
"Tim had a major impact on the game throughout his life, and this reached into every area of tennis. His leadership and passion made the USPTA into the organization it is today. Anyone involved in tennis has been impacted by Tim's commitment to both the game and the organization he loved," said Greg Mason, TIA President.
"Tim was a long-serving and valued member of the TIA Board of Directors. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to the USPTA and for his many contributions to the industry and sport of tennis," said TIA Executive Director Jolyn de Boer.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife, Renee, and his family and the USPTA.
Visitation services for Tim will be held at the Earhman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris St, Bellaire TX on Friday, February 8th from 6-8 pm.
The funeral will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77025 on Saturday, February 9th at noon.
