Larry Ellison, the executive chairman and chief technology officer of Oracle, has become an investor and partner with Universal Tennis.
“Universal Tennis can change the game of tennis for the better using software and innovative technology to make the sport more accessible and enjoyable for players, coaches, organizers and fans,” Ellison says. “We can bring needed innovation to democratize tennis, drive American and international participation in the sport, create compelling new tennis events, and bring additional events and playing opportunities to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.”
Ellison is the owner of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and is a strong supporter of Oracle’s initiatives across the sport, including its ownership of several ATP/WTA Challenger Series events and its multi-year partnership with the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Universal Tennis is the company behind the UTR global tennis rating system.
In related news, Head USA has also partnered with UTR to work on a variety of marketing initiatives. Also, this fall, UTR will launch a comprehensive “Community Platform” available for all players, coaches, organizers, sponsors, events and non-profits in tennis.
