To help showcase this sport and all its great benefits, industry partners have come together to promote the month of May as “Play Tennis Month.” This national and local promotion will key on helping people to get moving and playing tennis. The goal for the month is for Americans to burn a combined 10 million calories on the tennis court in Play Tennis Month activities.
Throughout the country, at least 1,500 tennis facilities are expected to participate in Play Tennis Month. Tennis providers should register their location now as a participating site, so consumers can find you and your programs. Visit RallyTheIndustry.org.
Play Tennis Month events will include many fund-raisers to benefit PHIT America GO! Grants, which provide funds for physical education in schools, including supporting Net Generation equipment and curriculum.
With Play Tennis Month’s emphasis on health and fitness, Cardio Tennis will play a large role in the campaign. On April 20, a huge Cardio Tennis session is planned for the USTA National Campus in Orlando, where the goal is for participants to burn a combined 1 million calories. May 5 will be “National Cardio Tennis Day,” with participating facilities offering Cardio Tennis challenges, sessions and programming. In addition, now through the end of May, tennis providers can join the Cardio Tennis Instructor Network for only $100, which is half price for first-year membership. See all the benefits and resources at CardioTennis.com.
Webinars for Play Tennis Month are scheduled for March 21 and April 24 and will update providers on formats, programming, promotions, follow-up and more.
