Playtennis.com is set to re-launch in early 2012, bridging the gap between tennis providers and current (as well as potential) tennis consumers. With the re-launch of the site consumers will be able to search for places to play, find playing partners, search for programming, locate tennis instructors, and much more. TIA Board Meeting Outlines Strategies for Industry

2011 Tennis Industry Research Update

The first half of 2011 has proved to be challenging for the tennis industry as it has for the sporting goods industry and US economy overall. Looming concerns over a “double-dip” recession, high unemployment rates, and consumer confidence continue to impact the various segments of the tennis industry. Higher than average precipitation across major tennis regions in the US in the spring and a warmer than normal summer may also be contributing factors to the shift in tennis consumer buying habits. There are a few bright spots, however, that indicate the industry is still well positioned for growth and is in better position, overall, than other traditional sports.

Tennis Show Set for Aug. 27 in NYC

The Tennis Show will debut Aug. 27 in New York City at the 2011 USTA Tennis Teachers Conference, and will feature exhibitors, a cocktail reception, prizes, a DJ and more. The Tennis Show will kick off at 2 p.m. at the Grand Hyatt New York at Lexington and 42nd Street.

10 and Under Tennis Update: Plans for Moving Forward

There are more than 20 million children in the U.S. ages 10 and under. In an effort to grow the game of tennis, increase retention, and increase participation in competition, the USTA continues to make a significant investment in the development and promotion of the 10 and Under Tennis initiative, which uses the QuickStart Tennis play format to get kids into the game quickly, having fun and success at the sport right from the start. Agassi, Graf to Serve as 10 and Under Tennis Spokepersons
