Tennis Participation Jumps 43% From 2000 Through 2009

Tennis continues to hit winning shots with the American public. The latest data from the Physical Activity Council (PAC) shows participation in the sport grew by a huge 43% from 2000 through 2009, making tennis one of the fastest growing traditional participation sports in the U.S. for the past decade.

TWC of the Month: Arlington Tennis Center in Texas

The Arlington Tennis Center in Texas first became a Tennis Welcome Center in 2006. “The TWC initiative was new, and indications were that it was going to be a prime means to grow tennis in our community,” says ATC Facility Manager Sheryl Osborn.

Cardio Tennis Spotlight: Four Seasons Racquet Club, Wilton, CT

When Cardio Tennis was created in 2005, one of the first sites to sign on  was the Four Seasons Racquet Club in Wilton, CT. “It’s a great program,” says Tennis Director Greg Moran, who also is a member of the Cardio Tennis National Speakers Team. “People love it. With a good, enthusiastic person running the program, it really does well.”

Cardio Tennis Kids Debuts at the 2010 PTR Symposium

Cardio Tennis Kids debuted Feb. 18 at the PTR Symposium on Hilton Head Island. The three-hour workshop consisted of both classroom and on-court sessions and was led by Michele Krause, the national Cardio Tennis manager for the Tennis Industry Association, who was assisted by members of the Cardio Tennis national speakers team.

QuickStart Tennis: Connecticut Clubs Participate in QST Tourney

Nearly 40 children from several Fairfield County (Conn.) tennis clubs participated in a QuickStart Tennis Tournament last month at Kings Highway Tennis Club in Darien, Conn. It was the first time the club hosted a children’s tournament using the QuickStart Tennis format, designed for youngsters ages 10 and under.
