Sixty-five percent of new and beginning players continued in follow-up tennis programming in 2009, according to the TIA’s most recent Cost of Doing Business–Facilities report. The nearly two-thirds retention rate is in line with similar rates from 2007 and 2005.
The random, online survey of tennis facilities in the U.S. asked how many new or beginning players started in introductory programs, and how many continued on in programs after the initial introduction period.

CODB data also shows that 60% of tennis facilities surveyed offer introductory programs or free lessons for beginners/new players, again in line with rates from 2007 and 2005. Nearly two-thirds of tennis facilities are part of the Tennis Welcome Center program (to become a TWC, visit www.GrowingTennis.com).
