KABC-TV Films Cardio Tennis Segment in L.A.

July 29, 2010 · 1 Comment

Lori Corbin, the nutrition and fitness reporter for KABC-TV in Los Angeles, participated in a Cardio Tennis class in late July for a segment to air in early August. She was joined by actress Kendra Andrews, star or the new Disney dance movie “Step Up 3D” (and sister of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews).

National Cardio Tennis Speaker and tennis teaching pro Chris Ojakian led the Cardio Tennis session, which included high-energy, fast-paced drills and games designed to keep the heart rate up and burn calories, while also helping to improve tennis skills. Whether a participant is a frequent tennis player or has never picked up a racquet before, Cardio Tennis can help them get in shape in a workout that’s fast, fun and social.

Corbin’s segment on KABC, expected to run for at least two minutes, will discuss the health benefits of Cardio Tennis. She also filmed promos for her segment, mentioning Cardio Tennis, to help draw viewers to her report.

“Kendra Andrews and KABC’s Lori Corbin found out what a terrific workout Cardio Tennis provides all participants,” says Michele Krause, National Program Manager for Cardio Tennis, which was developed and is managed by the Tennis Industry Association. “Not only do you get into your target heart rate zone with ease because of the fun factor, Cardio Tennis also engages the total body as well as the mind…the time flies and you can’t believe the class is over.”

I want to start Cardio Tennis in our Summer Tennis Program. I live in Indiana and it gets hot and humid in the summers! We do not have indoor courts- only outdoor courts. My question is: Are there Cardio Tennis programs that are adapted to outdoor Tennis Club's? I don't think students would be able to withstand the heat and humidity if we had them follow the regular program. (Cardio Tennis is aimed for indoor clubs with controlled temperature)
    Thank-you!
    Bill
