For years, the Savannah Area Tennis Association (SATA) has organized programs in public and private schools throughout its community in Georgia, both in school and after school. This year, however, SATA has become a key player in a network of community organizations dedicated to increasing the recreational opportunities of underserved school children through tennis.
An after-school initiative was launched aimed at impacting children by raising issues of healthy lifestyle choices, sportsmanship, and character development – using tennis as a vehicle.
SATA has participated in several meetings with local politicians, school district personnel, the USTA and other community partners. A strategy to grow this important programming to the children of Savannah has been set in motion.
